LINKS TO UNIVERSITY IN AUSTRALIA



The University of Klagenfurt is a young and dynamic one, paying more attention to the individual student rather than to robes and other regalia of academic tradition. Nevertheless, it has gained its outstanding reputation thanks to its research and teaching.
Due to recent renovation and expansion, the university, located at the crossroads of three cultures, has become a very attractive educational center, as surveys conducted amongst students and graduates and an increase in enrollment have shown.
At present approx. 6,700 students from 61 different countries are enrolled at the university. 


The Institute of Science and Technology (IST) Austria is a new Institute dedicated to basic research and graduate education in the Natural Sciences, located  in the Vienna Woods. IST Austria is committed to become a world-class research center offering, by 2016, an international, state-of-the-art environment for approx. 500 scientists and doctoral students. 

The Danube University Krems (subtitled University of Continuing Education Krems; German: Donau-Universität Krems and Universität für Weiterbildung Krems, respectively) calls itself "the only state-funded university throughout Europe that has specialised in post-graduate academic studies". It is located in Krems an der Donau, Lower Austria.


In world-wide competition with comparable institutions, Graz University of Technology pursues top teaching and research in the fields of the engineering sciences and the technical-natural sciences. An integral part of putting together excellent education and training programs is knowing about the needs of society and the economy. Ultimately, the quality of the education and training at Graz University of Technology is carried by the strength of its knowledge-oriented and applied research. Numerous competence centers, the Christian-Doppler laboratories, special research fields, research focuses, and large EU projects are only a few examples of the University’s extremely active and successful research.

The faculty of medicine at the Karl-Franzens-University in Graz was established in 1863 by Franz Joseph I. In 2004 the former faculty became an independent university.
Diploma programs offered are Medicine and Dentistry . The program in Nursing Sciences is a bachelor program. Medical Science is a doctoral program. There are also some medicine-related postgrad programs.


The University of Graz (German, Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz), a university located in Graz, Austria, is the third-largest and second-oldest university in Austria.
Karl-Franzens-Universität, also referred to as the University of Graz, is the city's oldest university, founded in 1585 by Archduke Charles II of Austria. For most of its existence it was controlled by the Catholic Church, and was closed in 1782 by Emperor Joseph II in an attempt to gain state control over educational institutions. Joseph II transformed it into a lyceum where civil servants and medical personnel were trained. In 1827 it was re-instituted as a university by Emperor Francis I, thus gaining the name Karl-Franzens-Universität, meaning Charles Francis University. Over 22,000 students are currently enrolled at this university.

The University of Leoben, in the town of Leoben, Austria, is the country's university for mining, metallurgy, and materials.
It was founded on November 4, 1840, as the Steiermärkisch-Ständische Montanlehranstalt in Styria, Austria's mining region. In 1848 Peter Tunner relocated the university to the nearby town of Leoben, where it is still located today. That year the university had a mere 48 students enrolled. It has since developed a reputation as one of the finest mining schools in Europe.


The University of Salzburg, or Paris Lodron University (German Universität Salzburg) after its founder, the Prince Archbishop Paris Lodron, is located in the Austrian city of Salzburg, Salzburgerland, home of Mozart. It is divided into 4 faculties: catholic theology, law, sociology and natural science.

Founded in 1622, it today has c. 14,000 students and c. 1,600 employees. It is the biggest educational institution in Salzburg.


The Innsbruck Medical University (in German: Medizinische Universität Innsbruck) is a university in Innsbruck, Tyrol, Austria. It used to be a faculty of the Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck but became an independent university in 2004.
